The Louisiana Story is a black and white documentary drama directed by Robert J. Flaherty, a pioneer of documentary filmmaking. The film takes us to the pristine, swampy areas of Louisiana (bayou). The main character, a young boy from the Cajun community, spends his days traversing local waters accompanied by a tame raccoon. This harmonious world interferes with the arrival of a drilling crew searching for oil.
In a poetic and balanced way, Flaherty presents the collision of the traditional, close to nature lifestyle with the inevitable technological advance.
