About the event

Tales of Narnia. The lion, the witch and the old wardrobe.

The play “Tales of Narnia. The Lion, the Witch and the Old Wardrobe” is an intergenerational repertoire proposal for all audiences, encouraging to spend time together in the theater and discuss the rudimentary values that testify to humanity derived from childhood in the process of individuation.

The encounter of the main characters of the real world with reflections in the form of imaginary figures filling the deepest recesses of Narnia, or perhaps their own peculiarities, is a story of the search for identity. The characters in search of themselves, colliding with their reverses, complete their knowledge of themselves during the performance. All viewers, regardless of age, can see through these emanations.

The first volume of the C. S. Lewis series of books has been adapted many times for radio, television and cinema. It was also staged, and Time magazine included it in its list of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005. Its enormous popularity is largely due to its ability to read the book on a wide range of levels and interpretive levels — from the level of unfettered imagination, through countless cultural references, to the profoundly philosophical level.

The creators of the play intend to use both the commercial potential and the multiplicity of interpretive keys of C. S. Lewis's book. The scenographic and musical momentum of the performance will make it an event in the best sense of the word, surprising in terms of the quantity and quality of theatrical forms and means used. Literary multidimensionality translated into theatrical reality will become for the audience of the play a kind of guide to the mechanisms that govern the world — not only those magically hidden behind the closet doors.
