We invite you to a curated tour of the unique exhibition “Kraków. Sounds, melodies, words”, which allows you to look at the city through the prism of its sounds. This is the last bell to see and listen to the exposition, which is open until October 11.
What sounds used to fill Krakow's courtyards? How has the sound of streets and squares changed? Why have chimes and bells been part of the city's sonic identity for centuries?
During the meeting, we will delve into: the sounds of Krakow's streets, markets and squares, the stories of Krakow bells, the music playing in the courtyards and in the bourgeois living rooms, the phenomenon of the trumpet whose melody flows over the roofs of the city and on the waves of the ether. “Cracow. Sounds, melodies, words” is an exhibition to watch as much as to listen to. Especially for her needs, an artistic sound installation was created, in which recordings from the past and the present enter into dialogue with each other. Its author is Marcin Dymiter — a sound artist who carries out projects in the field of electronics, field recording and improvised music. In each room you can hear unique compositions made from archival audio materials and field recordings recorded today in Krakow.
