Curatorial tour of the exhibition “Kunszt i fach. Craftsmen's Cracow”

Nowadays, more and more often, if we can, we opt for handicrafts. Because we praise their quality, we appreciate the fact that they were made with our own hands, and we also value their uniqueness, having enough of products made heartlessly by factory machines. Once upon a time, however, it was not a choice, but an ordinary reality. In addition, the reality is extremely colorful and interesting, filled with people equally colorful and interesting. The temporary exhibition Kunszt i fach — Kraków — Craftsmen's Cracow will tell you about these people, about the craft characteristics in which they were associated, about their work and products and many others.

What was the craft characteristic and what did the career path look like in it? How did Krakow craftsmen spend their time in the workshop, but also outside it? What was their daily and religious life like? We will try to answer these and many other questions during a curatorial tour of the temporary exhibition.

During the tour we will have the opportunity to see many valuable artifacts related to Krakow crafts, among others: the statutes of the artisan guilds and testimonies of the liberation of the students, counters and guild hangings, or the so-called golden plaque of Saint Eligius and the silver Kur of the Krakow Chicken Brotherhood.
