Hosted by: Dominika Szczech
It starts with a slight shift. Not from a catastrophe, but from a barely perceptible rupture in the continuity of the world. The name hangs at the end of the tongue. The face loses its obviousness. The way home turns into a labyrinth. Memory—what usually acts as a transparent scaffolding of reality—reveals its fragility only when it begins to crumble. Over time, the boundaries between the familiar and the alien are blurred. Things lose their names and words of reference. The world is disintegrating into fragments that are increasingly difficult to put together into a coherent whole.
Three artists. Three different visual languages. And a multi-voiced tale of a memory that disappears and a presence that remains. An exhibition dedicated to the experience of dementia raises questions about identity, relationships and care. It includes both the intimate experience of memory decay and the social dimensions of care and dependence. When memory disappears, man does not disappear, but his existence is transformed. Art allows us to capture fragments of this transformation and bring us closer to a reality that eludes unambiguous descriptions.
