Curated tour of the exhibition “Suzanne Treister: Prophetic Dreaming”

The exhibition Suzanne Treister: Prophetic Dreaming at the Museum of Art in Łódź is the first in Poland retrospective of the work of a pioneer of digital art, the Internet and new media. The exhibition spans more than four decades of Treister's interdisciplinary activity. It presents the visionary, radical and critical, although not devoid of humor, practice of the British artist. Treister exposes the relationships connecting technology, global surveillance networks, society, power, science and mysticism. It proposes alternative visions and interpretations of history that have shaped our society, and we only begin to understand their meaning today.

At 13:00 we will meet Gabriela Sitek, curator of the exhibition from the Museum of Art in Łódź. During the tour, Gabriela Sitek will introduce the concept of the exhibition and the most important themes of the work of Suzanne Treister - a pioneer of digital art, internet and new media. She will talk about the works presented in the exhibition, their contexts and how the artist has been using art for more than four decades to explore the relationship between technology, society, power, science and alternative belief systems.

During the tour, you will be able to look at both early projects such as Video Game Painting (1989-1991) and Software (1993-1994), as well as more recent works, including the HEXEN 5.0 tarot deck (2023-2025). The curator will pay special attention to the ways in which Treister combines the analysis of the present with the imagining of possible scenarios of the future.

The tour will be an opportunity to get to know the exhibition from a curatorial perspective and to better understand the multithreaded and unobvious connections of Suzanne Treister's work.
