Exhibition “Great Seasons. Andrzej Kreutz Majewski Theatre” evokes the outstanding achievements of Polish and European theater of the second half of the 20th century, created by a brilliant painter and visionary, as well as a charismatic educator at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and Warsaw, always sharing his passion for art with the younger generations of scenographers. Majewski's stage productions made Polish opera recognizable among other world events in the 1970s. The artist maintained a constant dialogue with the stars of the opera scenes, who invited him to cooperate. As the chief stage designer of the Teatr Wielki — the National Opera, he built close relations of the national stage with the cosmopolitan environment of composers, directors and opera singers. As a painter and set designer, Majewski introduced into Polish opera an author's form combining his contemporary avant-garde inspiration with the paintings of neo-romantics, symbolists and the monumentalism of the Baroque era.

Andrzej Kreutz Majewski is characterized by the need to record events, thoughts, descriptions of visions and dreams, which we find in his diaries, and above all, an instinctive sensitivity to music brought out of the atmosphere of his family home and the need to paint pictures that create “fragile monuments of childhood”. In them he defined a personal dictionary of symbols and metaphors, marked by the stigma of death, loss, fears and a sense of loneliness.
