About the event

On 18 October at 11:00 and 12:30 we invite you to a curatorial tour entitled “Death and Life in German Concentration Camps”, which will be led by Dr. Jan Daniluk after the main exhibition of the MIIWŚ.

The first concentration camps in the German Reich were established in 1933, but it was during the Second World War that the overwhelming majority of the approximately 2.3 million prisoners who suffered this tragic fate ended up in them. It is estimated that between 1.7 and 1.9 million of them did not survive the ordeal. During the walk, not only will the genesis and development of the German concentration camp system be described in outline, but above all the stories related to selected issues of the functioning of prisoners in the camps, presented at the exhibition will be presented.

Dr Jan Daniluk - one of the curators of the main exhibition, a historian employed in the Scientific Department of MIIWŚ and an academic lecturer at the University of Gdańsk. Author of numerous scientific and popular science publications.
