The bicycle has occupied a special and somewhat paradoxical place in the history of Warsaw for more than one hundred and fifty years. It was an invention that delighted at the end of the 19th century, but today is seen as less exciting. It is slower than modern means of transport, does not allow carrying large loads, does not protect from rain and usually serves only one person. And yet it is precisely this simplicity that makes the bicycle constantly return, also today, as a tool for change and renewal of the city. The exhibition addresses, among others, the topic of mobility as a cultural experience, issues of emancipation, as well as the role of cyclism in the material culture of the city and its importance as a phenomenon with a social and political dimension.
