[Adolph Menzel (1815—1905). Tireless observer] (https://www.mnw.art.pl/wystawy/adolph-menzel-18151905-niestrudzony-obserwator,277.html)” is the first monographic exhibition in Poland dedicated to one of the most outstanding artists of the 19th century. It shows Menzel as an attentive observer of the world, a creator who freely approached both historical and contemporary subjects, and also masterfully operated with painting and graphic techniques. The exhibition allows you to trace the development of his work — from early artistic experiments, through famous performances of the era of Frederick II, to studies of light and motifs taken from everyday life in mature age. Its important element is also a reflection on the history of the works of art themselves and their provenance, showing the complex fate of museum collections after the Second World War.
