tour of the exhibition [Sculpture for furniture wall] (https://krolikarnia.mnw.art.pl/wystawy/rzezba-na-mebloscianke,203.html) with guides from the Education Department of the Ministry of Interior
Ceramic penguins, monkeys, strongmen and sex bombs adorned furniture walls in Polish apartments for almost the entire period of the Polish People's Republic. These unique porcelain “chamber sculptures” made a splash abroad and still delight design lovers to this day.
Their designs were developed in the mid-1950s at the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw by a team of designers, which included: Henryk Jędrasiak, Mieczysław Naruszewicz, Hanna Orthwein and Lubomir Tomaszewski.
On selected Sundays, we invite you to visit with guides from the MNW Education Department.
