Sonic whirlwinds ravage in VEGA with Oranssi Pazuzu

Named after cosmic energy and an ancient Mesopotamian wind demon, the Finnish dark masters of Oranssi Pazuzu have created their very own kaleidoscopic genre remix of psych, kraut and metal.

The band is known for their live shows where time and place are engulfed by the black holes the quintet musically plays forth. It's not just a concert; it's a ritual when Oranssi Pazuzu turns on the amplifiers.

Oranssi Pazuzu manages to fuse icy Scandinavian black metal with 70s soured krautrock, mesmerizing doom and avant-garde jazz structures. The result is an intense, cinematic and almost claustrophobically beautiful experience that feels like the soundtrack to a sci-fi horror unfolding in outer space.

Bassist Toni “Ontto” Hietamäki describes their self their music as “a psychic storm” that unexpectedly becomes untamable and colorful at one and the same time.

When the band played at the genre-bending festival A Colossal Weekend in VEGA last year, they blew audiences and reviewers backward with high intensity and presence.

GAFFA threw five stars at them, writing: 'It's a crazy gig. Not such shock value madness, but the kind that creeps under the skin because it keeps mutating and changing. At no point does it seem preconceived or calculated; it falls the group quite naturally.”

For over 15 years, the Finnish five-leaf clover has been blasting the frames of black metal, creating their very own cosmic vacuum. On October 21, they drag the listener into a whirlwind of hypnotic bass runs, biting guitar riffs, spacerock synths and raw, metallic aggression.
