The composers of the Baroque period left us a wealth of atmospheric Christmas music, whether in the form of cantatas or concerti. Les Accents, one of the leading ensembles on the early music scene, presents Christmas treasures from the 17th and 18th century under the title Heavenly Night. Regardless of whether it is vocal like Alessandro Scarlatti's barely known “Cantata per la notte del santissimo Natale”, or purely instrumental like Arcangelo Corelli's “Christmas Concert”: This music is not only festive and full of joy, but also takes you into the world of shepherds who were the first to hear about the birth of the baby Jesus.
