info
Venice set the tone for music around 1700 — this was the home of virtuoso, innovative music, new forms conquered from Venice, such as the Concerto and the Trio Sonata all over Europe. The French ensemble Le Consort revives the dazzling musical world of the lagoon city. The focus is on early trio sonatas by Antonio Vivaldi, which already have the rhythmic energy and cantable elegance that are typical of his style. Works by composers who have significantly influenced Italian instrumental music and a concerto by Vivaldi admirer Johann Sebastian Bach complete the program.
