In an age of sensitization to the problem of cultural appropriation, is it permissible to enclose the music of the whole world in a two-hour cycle for a salon orchestra? Only if you are a composer with such erudition and multidimensional perspective as Mauricio Kagel. A descendant of Eastern European Jews, born in Buenos Aires, a leading creator of the post-war German avant-garde, but above all a master of juggling stylistic and semantic codes. In the selection from the series of eight Songs of the Rose of the Winds we will hear Andean flutes, ragtime, and klezmer notes. Interestingly, the Argentine composer looks at music from a perspective that is not obvious to the Polish audience: for him the North East is the universe of Latin culture, the Southeast is the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, and the South West lies in Chile.
