About the show
“Osiecka. The Wild Heart” is a road musical inspired by Agnieszka Osiecka about a woman who becomes a “literary pop star” of the 1960s, enters the world of Warsaw bohemia and moves forward: by boat through Masuria, by car overnight, from city to city, from relationship to relationship. He writes everywhere and on everything. She doesn't slow down — perhaps fueled by the anxiety that has accompanied her since she was a child.
Under the neon lights of Warsaw's Polish People's Republic and in the smoky bars of New York, reality begins to resemble a dream: characters appear and disappear, the road pulls in, and something lurks in the rearview mirror — a mystery. As in David Lynch's films, the further we go, the less certain what we see becomes. Under the playing surface, something is constantly pulsating.
It's a jazzy journey through life written on the run, where biography mixes with anecdote and memory with its own legend. The story becomes a way of survival, which over time turns into a myth. There is no simple reckoning or reconciliation here — there is a recognition that the story was necessary. And that it had its price.
Intense, full of humor, anecdotes and immortal songs of Osiecka, a performance about a girl from Saska Kępa who recorded her own legend by living and writing on the go.
“Osiecka. The Wildness of the Heart” is a continuation of the theatrical story about Warsaw and its icons. After the “Witkacy. Vaudeville on the brink”, “Bad. Warsaw Jazz Opera” and “Lalka '89”, we invite viewers on another journey through the secrets of the capital, which cannot be told in one story.
