Final tour with Małgorzata Mycek

On Saturday, October 24, at 16:00 there will be a guided tour with Małgorzata Mycek of the exhibition “Dziadostwo” in the Bielska BWA Gallery. The artist will talk about the presented works, the techniques used in them and the threads he undertakes in his practice.

“Dziadostwo” is the first solo exhibition of Małgorzata Mycek in the Bielska Gallery BWA. Its organization is the Award of the Director of the Bielska Gallery BWA awarded to the winner of the Grand Prix Biennale of Painting Bielska Autumn.

At the exhibition, the artist presents works made with yellow tempera on a board, inspired by the aesthetics of Carpathian icons. Mycek recycles traditional motifs, introducing queer themes and a new perspective on rural reality. It deals with topics related to the place of origin, memory and identity, showing the Polish countryside from a perspective that goes beyond conventional imagination.

The title of the exhibition refers to the word “grandfatherhood”, usually associated with something worse or of little value. The artist gives it a new meaning, telling about life in the countryside, social tensions and alternative ways of building community. We invite you to participate in the guided tour.
