A witty and loving Christmas story from a surprising perspective!
Ox, the ox, is about to enjoy his well-earned dinner when he suddenly discovers a small human child in the hay. What the heck is that doing in his crib? And who put it in there anyway? Donkey, his stable roommate, is also surveyed. Donkey comes up with an idea: Maybe that is the baby Jesus? Because he heard that Josef and his pregnant wife Mechthild — uh Maria or was it Michaela? — was on the way to Bethlehem. And because all hotels were fully booked, she quickly gave birth to her child in a stable. It sleeps all alone there because the parents are probably stuck in shopping chaos, Donkey thinks. So what now? Someone has to take care of the screaming child. And while the two stable dwellers are still discussing who should take on which role in education, there is a knock at the stable door...
With a lot of humor, Norbert Ebel talks about compassion, solidarity and the courage to take on responsibility in his play “Ox and Donkey.”
