Aldona and Mariusz run into Justyna and Juliana only for a moment to inform that their son will not show up for the birthday of their best friend - the son of the hosts. From a seemingly trivial message, a heated dispute about values quickly flares up, which turns an inconspicuous meeting into a real battlefield.
In his latest work, Marek Modzelewski precisely and mercilessly exposes the facadedness of declared beliefs. He asks questions about what is left of the big slogans as they collide with the prose of everyday decisions. The author looks at the characters with irony, but without easy condemnation — it shows that each of us balances between the role of advocate of our values and hostage of our own narrative. The result is a brilliant, humorous and tense tragicomedy that forces uncomfortable reflection: how often are our fears, prejudices and ambitions hidden under the cloak of principles?
