You know the story. But do you know her like that?
Soplicovo is on fire when the fate of the Motherland is being weighed. The Muscovites are attacking, Napoleon is still far away. Father Worm sets off with a vengeance, and the past he has tried to redeem all his life returns with redoubled strength.
“Pan Tadeusz” is love and war. Guilt and repentance. Revenge and redemption. The struggle for freedom and the struggle with oneself.
The heroes of Adam Mickiewicz's epic come to life on the stage — full-blooded, passionate, ambiguous. They love, they hate, they make mistakes, they fight for their dignity and for things greater than themselves. Their heroism and nobility are adjacent to pride, vanity and vindictiveness. Each of them carries its own history, its own desires and its own guilt.
In the center of this story is Father Robak — the former Jacek Soplica, a man marked by one tragic event. His mystery, guilt and attempt at redemption lead through the show's subsequent events, all the way to a dramatic finale.
The creators of the show reach for the full richness of the world created by Mickiewicz, preserving his extraordinary language and beauty of words, and at the same time giving the story the momentum of a contemporary musical spectacle. More than a hundred people will appear on the stage, and music for orchestra and choir, scenography, light, multimedia and AI effects will create a multidimensional image of the legendary Soplicov.
This is “Mr. Tadeusz”, whom you may remember from the school bench. But this time you don't read it — you enter his world.
See the first meeting of Tadeusz and Zosa. Listen to the history of the conflict between Horeszków and Soplice. Experience the confession of the Worm, the battle with the Muscovites and the Yankiel concert. Get carried away by the polonaise. And remember the words you know — heard anew.
“Pan Tadeusz” — a musical spectacle for the 21st century.
