Memorial panel combined with a visit to the jubilee exhibition

In the space of the jubilee exhibition 40 years of the Silesian Guitar Autumn at the Municipal Museum in Tychy, there will be a memorial panel combined with a tour of the exposition.

The meeting will be led by Professor of Education Zbigniew Dubiella and Dr. Wojciech Gurgul.

The starting point of the meeting will be the history of the most important guitar festival in Poland, shown through the lens of the milestones of subsequent editions. The hosts will choose one event from each edition of the Silesian Guitar Autumn, which shows particularly well the rank, transformations and atmosphere of the Festival. Among the topics mentioned will be, among others, the first edition prepared by Prof. Alina Gruszka, the first composing commissions, the competition successes of the then young and now world-famous guitarists, as well as visits by prominent figures of the world guitar, such as Leo Brouwer, Roland Dyens or the Assad brothers.

The whole will be enriched by a display of archival audio-video materials from the collections of Zbigniew Dubiella, the most famous Polish guitar collector. The meeting will also be an opportunity to talk about the new edition of Wojciech Gurgul's book “40 years of Silesian Guitar Autumn” dedicated to the history of the Festival, supplemented by events of the last decade as well as new source materials, photographs and reports.

In the second part of the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition “40 years of Silesian Guitar Autumn” with a curated tour.
