A profound philosophical meditation on compassion and reconciliation, the monumental interpretation of a medieval knight's heroic quest for the Holy Grail returns in François Girard's famous production, described by critics as one of Wagner's finest productions of musical dramas on the Met stage. His last opera is a musical journey unlike any other — the score of “Parsifal” is a remarkable combination of musical transcendence and the text of the libretto. The use of bells and choirs off-stage is one of the unusual means of expression, creating an almost liturgical atmosphere, and the magnificent prelude to the opera captures the vital role that the orchestra will play in creating a world in which time itself is experienced in an extraordinary way. The all-star cast will feature Piotr Beczała, who will make his debut in this part in March 2027 at the Staatsoper in Vienna.
