Does one of the most important creators of the Polish Film School, whose films were appreciated by Martin Scorsese, Andriej Tarkowski and Jean-Luc Godard, have a chance to be rediscovered today?
Passenger Andrzej Munk is a documentary by Michał Bielawski dedicated to one of the most outstanding directors of Polish cinema who tragically died at the age of 39. The film, based on unique archival materials, including previously unknown recordings found in Polish and foreign collections, allows us to look at Munk from a new perspective. Fragments of his films, chronicles, photographs and statements of the director himself, his collaborators and friends form a story about a man and an artist whose work has not lost its strength to this day. The whole story is narrated by Adam Voronovich.
The premiere of the film falls on the 105th anniversary of the birth of Andrzej Munk, becoming an opportunity to rediscover the author's achievements of “Man on the Track”, “Eroica”, “Zezowatego Luck” and “The Passenger” — and answer the question why Munk's cinema still remains relevant.
