The series of paintings deals with Różycki's childhood and adolescence in the countryside, in the economic and social exclusion associated with the transformation of the 90s and related shame. Each work is a record of a personal memory of a specific moment in the life of the artist, as well as his family and friends.
One of the main themes of Różycki's works is class divisions and socio-economic inequalities. The artist deliberately operates with the formula of narrative, simplified realistic painting.
Różycki, commenting on his paintings dedicated to the family, said: “I wanted, by showing their not easy biographies, to return to the reflection on the complexity of relationships in our society. For a long time, many issues, such as worse material situation, taboos associated with the presence of alcohol in the family, origin, blocked me in adult life. Transferring the accent from me, my feelings, to loved ones, their stories, helps to verify the remembered reality, helps me to mature.”
