PAUL VERHOEVEN. RETROSPECTIVE Dutch master of perverse controversy and uncompromising reach for genre costumes. Fascinated by war and historical cinema, horror films and science fiction cinema, he combines the future with the past in his work, refers to old masters and proven poetics to tell something completely new about the world. His love for cinematic violence and daring exploration of the corporeality on screen is for him a means for ironic commentary and a tool for observing the dynamics of human instincts and passions. Curator: Silesia Film Institute

His passion for cinematic violence and bold exploration of physicality on screen serves as a means of delivering ironic commentary and a tool for observing the dynamics of human instincts and passions.
