The Cyclades offer much more than beaches by the turquoise sea, queues for instagram shots in Santorini or Mykonos and evenings in taverns. It is also mountain trails with spectacular views from the peaks and in the caves. Small churches and impressive monasteries. Ruins of castles, fortifications, ancient cities and temples. These are trekking routes through olive groves and vineyards, where it is easier to meet goats than tourists. And unique locals, eager to share not only Greek specialties and smiles, but also stories about life on small islands.

Joanna Ferlian, who has crossed Santorini, Paros, Antiparos, Naxos and Amorgos, will tell you about the fact that in addition to flip flops, it is worth taking good trekking shoes to discover their beauty and history, and plans to travel to other Cycladic islands.

Joanna Ferlian — lover of close and distant travels (necessarily with a camera), books, hedgehogs and cats. In 2009, she won the Grand National Geographic Photography Competition in the landscape category. He prefers to travel alone, exploring at his own pace both bustling cities and the wildest corners of nature reserves. He likes islands most of all, especially those small, not very popular and significantly remote from other lands. In addition to the landscape and local culture, she is fascinated by the interpersonal relationships in small communities and the approach to life of the islanders. Of the beaches he likes the most... mountains, cities just after sunrise, and from the landscapes volcanic ones. The place he most often returns to is the Greek island of Skopelos. She reached New Zealand the furthest, crossed Norway along and across a dozen years of yaris and in 2025 she realized her dream expedition to the Faroe Islands, still untouched by tourists.
