That's how eccentric elderly bachelor Maurycy Stolnik thinks, who comes there to experience something more incredible than his neighbor — he wants to spend the night in a house for the insane. He asks his nephew Alfred to find a suitable plant, to whom he promises a loan to start a business in return. However, he does not know that the boy and his friend have a slightly different plan - they take an unsuspecting uncle to an artists' boarding house... Only crazy and comic mistakes can arise from this situation. Description of the play: Mr. Bielanski's Pension is an adaptation of the German farce Pension Schöller by Carl Laufs and Wilhelm Jacoby. Its premiere took place on October 7, 1890 in Berlin. Both Laufs and Jacoby were members of the Mainz Carnival Association, which set itself the goal of giving the crazy carnival fun a definite, aesthetic art form, as well as introducing political and literary elements. Pension Schöller was filmed three times (in 1930, 1952 and 1960) by George Jacoby, the son of one of the co-authors, and had several television screenings. The Polish adaptation of this art, although transferred to the realities of Krakow at the end of the 19th century, is faithful to the German tradition of farce — a piece of light and full of humor, culturally linked to a specific region.

Duration of the performance: 200 minutes (2 breaks)

Release Date: 26 June 2021
