Performed Concerts: Østen x Rosa Birkedal

NØRREBRO THEATRE PRESENTS THE EAST X ROSA BIRKEDAL VALLEY UNDER THE FORMAT OF PERFORMED CONCERTS.
What happens when a musician and a visual artist together unfold their art on the stage of the theater? It examines Performed Concerts, where the aspiring Danish musician Østen and acclaimed scenographer Rosa Birkedal will create a special performing artist experience when Østen's upcoming album is premiered at Nørrebro Teater.

With East on stage, the personal narratives of the music are brought to life in an alluring live experience. Together, Østen and Rosa Birkedal create a holistic experience where music and staging merge. The audience can expect an intense concert where you are not just a spectator but feel part of the songs.

The concert will be a premiere of Østen's upcoming album. The as yet unreleased album is about trying to accept happiness. To land in a good life but at the same time carry on the conviction that the good rarely endures; to let the light penetrate while waiting for rain.



ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Østen (b. 1998), with its energetic live concerts, strong vocals and lyrical heaviness, has in a short time marked itself as a rapidly growing new name, which was underlined by a nomination for the Talent Prize at P3 Guld 2025. Since its first single, the P3's Inevitabile 'Rain' with over 5 million streams, Østen has among other things distinguished itself by being nominated for the Carl Prize in both Song of the Year and Talent of the Year 2025.

Their debut album Daylight (2024), with themes such as rootlessness, depression and longing for light, received massive critical acclaim and was included on Soundvenue's list of the best Danish albums of the year.

Rosa Birkedal (b. 1988) is a Danish scenographer and lighting designer who has worked on several Danish and German theatre stages. She was educated at Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland, which is one of the largest artistic universities in Europe. A distinctive voice within the younger generation of performing artists, she is carried by an investigative approach to how art can become involved—both in its themes and in its physical presence.

ABOUT PERFORMED CONCERTS

Performed Concerts is a concept at Nørrebro Teater that challenges the classical framework of how art and culture should emerge and be experienced. On the theatre stage, the rhythmic concert is explored and challenged in the encounter with a visual artist; visual artist, filmmaker or designer. Performed Concerts examines what happens when the concert format is challenged by a visual and performing arts concept developed specifically for the theatre.
