We invite you to an expert tour of Dr. Andrzej Marc. During the tour, we will look at Karolina Breguła's work through the prism of Timothy Morton's “dark ecology”. In rejecting the idyllic vision of nature, the philosopher draws attention to our inevitable entanglement with the alien, disturbing or even toxic. In the era of climate catastrophe, the hitherto tamed reality becomes strange and incredible.

About the event

We invite you to an expert tour of Dr. Andrzej Marc. During the tour, we will look at Karolina Breguła's work through the prism of Timothy Morton's “dark ecology”. In rejecting the idyllic vision of nature, the philosopher draws attention to our inevitable entanglement with the alien, disturbing or even toxic. In the era of climate catastrophe, the hitherto tamed reality becomes strange and incredible.

During the meeting we will also trace how the Artist deconstructs the myth of safe refuge — in her works, architecture instead of giving a sense of stability, becomes a source of fear, revealing the precarious dimension of contemporary existence. The curator of the exhibition — Aleksandra Sikora, will be responsible for the curatorial entrance.

Andrzej Marzec — philosopher, film critic, assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, SWPS and UAP in Poznań. His research interests revolve around speculative realism, object-oriented ontology, environmental humanities, dark ecology, and contemporary alternative cinema. Author of books: “Widmontology. Philosophical Theory and Artistic Practice of Postmodernity” (2015) and “Anthropocene — Philosophy and Aesthetics after the End of the World” (2021), as well as co-editor of the book “Derrida and Film Studies” (2025).

The tour will take place on Saturday, October 24 at 13.00 at the Europa - Far East Gallery. We do not reserve seats for the event — the order of applications on the day of the meeting is decided (limit: 25 people). To take part in the tour, please arrive a few minutes in advance at the reception in the Gallery lobby and wait for the guide. The entrance ticket to the exhibitions according to the current price list entitles you to participation.
