Denmark's arguably driest songwriter, Peter Sommer, and the all-playing audience favourite who never gets birollexions, Palle Hjorth, can be experienced this January at the Royal Theatre's Old Stage in a theatrical, grand romantic and aesthetically ambitious blast of an all-night performance - that can turn any theatre into a concert hall, and any concert hall into a theatre.
And audiences have more than the popular hot chairs in the dark to look forward to. For the dramatic duo have outdone themselves with a splendid piece of light, sound and costume parade from initiation to carpet fall - and are now bringing arguably the most dubious but not questionable song catalogue of big (and small) songs beyond the stage in a show in two acts, which they have chosen to call: “Ej Blot To The Light • Ej Blot To The Light • Ej Blot To The Dark”.
For more than 20 years Peter Sommer has written and published songs that do not try to simplify the world - where the easy questions are rarely answered, but the difficult and important questions are asked. And in a duo formation with keyboard boxer Palle Hjorth, both the most and the least known songs from Sommer's hand are presented in a new light, new scenography and, not least, new musical interpretations. Freely but not without script, you can look forward to revisiting old favourites — and in particular to premieres of new interpretations from the duo's upcoming record PSPHPT 2, which will be released in conjunction with the tour (exclusively for sale at the concerts).
