The second of the musical events of the 1st Jazz Festival “Zgierz podszyty jazzem” is the concert of P.G.R. - Native Jazz Trio (PL/SW/US) — a project that promotes the culture of different regions of the world through the prism of jazz music. Each of the musicians, telling and presenting the music in which he grew up, invites the listener to his “musical” home. So, listening to jazz, we move over, covered with willow, the banks of the Vistula, to picturesque Swedish villages or to the west coast of the USA - to Los Angeles.
We will hear here strongly outlined blues, harmonies fixed by standards, and swing! The American pianist Luis Durra will be responsible for the transmission of these.
Minimalist melodies and nostalgic harmony characterize Scandinavian jazz. The coolness that allows you to forget and move far away from here — this is what the Double bass player from Stockholm: Anders Grop will help us.
Against this background, Polish Jazz balances somewhere in the middle. We have the work of Komeda, which has a melody and Chopin melancholy — so appealing to Scandinavians who played with the author of “Sleep, safe and warm”. The famous American jazz standards (Invitation, On green dolphin street) are by Bronisław Kaper — a Polish composer who emigrated to the USA to pursue a career as a composer of music for films in Hollywood.
