Phoebe Bridgers gives big Danish arena concert
The formidable American singer and songwriter, who in 2023 blew a sold-out K.B. Hallen behind with boygenius, will return to Denmark when she gives a concert in the Royal Arena on December 11 on her “The Lost Tour”.
Phoebe Bridgers is one of the greatest and most important voices of her generation. In her own name, she has created some of the most gripping and critically acclaimed indie folk albums of this millennium. And as a member of the supergroup boygenius, she's won Grammy statuettes, putting a bold line under the fact that immersive arena rock and blistering guitar solos are a perfect match for feminist social criticism.
Phoebe Bridgers' special class is found in the lyrics' combination of skinless and precisely registering confessions peppered with a disarming deadpan humour, set in tone with her sensitive and broad-hued songwriting pen, mastering piano ballads, singer/songwriter, country, folk and raw indie rock.
Her brilliant solo debut “Stranger in the Alps” was released in 2017 via Dead Oceans (Japanese Breakfast, Mitski), but her breakthrough came in 2020 with her masterpiece “Punisher”, which received a top rating from NME and Q Magazine, while Pitchfork gave it an 8.7 rating. At the same time, it hit the charts around the world, including number 6 in the UK and the top 10 on the US Billboard charts for “Alternative Albums” and “Rock Albums”. “Punisher” also received a gold record in both countries.
Bridgers' most recent Danish solo concert was at Roskilde Festival 2022, which Soundvenue awarded five big stars for a concert that “enchanted the audience in front of the Avalon stage from the first second”. The following year she returned in the company of boygenius, whose complete sold-out show in K.B. Hallen received maximum 6 stars from GAFFA.
After three years of hiatus, Danish fans of the American unique can look forward to a soon — and very special — reunion. On 11 December, she will give her biggest Danish indoor concert to date when she stands on stage in the Royal Arena.
