Songs of Polish bakers

The television version of the play, which was awarded during the 14th Young Directing Forum, directed by Klaudia Gębska — the first performance of the new series of Teatr Televisija devoted to the realizations of contemporary Polish dramaturgy.

The author of the text is Mariusz Gołosz — one of the brightest and most expressive theatrical literary voices of the young generation. It is a rapped musical about two bakers traveling around Poland in search of work — a driven, flour-fogged story about the precarious reality in the times of late capitalism, told in an explosive, hip-hop reel the story of the hard work of two bakers traveling through Poland for work.

“Songs of Polish bakers” is a rap-musical about the dark scenes of the creation of your beloved pastries. Klaudia Gębska, one of the most interesting directors of the young generation of theatre creators, weaves a fairytale form with images of hard physical labor, and the everyday, ordinary bakery becomes the space of the most important game for the dignity of the common man. Rhymes, carcass and flour are sleeping thickly!

Student of the Faculty of Directing and Dramaturgy at the St. Wyspiański Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow. Nominated for AURORA, the T. Różewicz and Young Polish Dramaturgy Award. “Songs of Polish Piekers”, directed by her, won the 14th Young Directing Forum an award for directing, a special award “WyspianKiss” and a Television Theatre Award, thanks to which the performance was realized in the form of a television performance.
