Picnic at the Hanging Rock, directed by Peter Weir, Australia, 1975
Fiction, Drama
Valentine's Day, 1900. Students of elite salaries go for a picnic at the Hanging Rock — a beautiful, wild and a little disturbing place. A few of them move away from the group and... disappear without a trace.
“Picnic at the Hanging Rock” is a film that escapes simple categories. It is not a horror, although it causes fear. It's no ordinary crime story, though it starts with a disappearance. It has something rare about it: a mystery that cannot be easily closed in a single explanation. Therefore, after the session, not only the question remains “what happened?” , but also the feeling of having touched something really special.
