The song is good for everything. Cabaret of the Elderly Gentlemen in a new jazz version

On October 16, 2026, at 18.00 at the Mazowiecki Museum in Płock, timeless songs by Jeremi Urzel and Jerzy Wasowski will sound. In the concert “Song is good for everything” they will be performed by Wojciech Myrczek and Krzysztof Herdzin, giving the famous works of the Old Men Cabaret a new, jazz form.

Timeless songs in a new version

The work of Jeremi Urzel and Jerzy Wasowski remains one of the most important phenomena in the history of Polish song. Literary texts, full of subtle humor, perversity and melancholy, meet in it music of extraordinary elegance. Although many years have passed since the creation of the Cabaret of the Elder Gentlemen, its songs do not lose their freshness. They still talk about love, longing, transience and human weaknesses with a grace that cannot be confused with any other.

The concert in Płock will not be an attempt to recreate past performances. It is a contemporary encounter with the legendary repertoire and the search for its new sounds. Krzysztof Herdzin's jazz arrangements will bring out from Wasowski's composition harmonic richness, lightness and openness to improvisation. The intimate formula, on the other hand, will allow the words Utensils to sound more strongly: intelligent, sophisticated and surprisingly current.

Artists:

Wojciech Myrczek — vocals. One of the most characteristic voices of Polish jazz, combining musical precision with naturalness of interpretation and special sensitivity to the word.

Krzysztof Herdzin — piano and arrangements. Author of new repertoire elaborations, preserving the melodiousness and elegance of the original compositions, while opening them to the language of contemporary jazz.

Music picture and atmosphere

The concert will be accompanied by a contemporary visual setting, subtly referring to the world of the Elder Gentlemen Cabaret. The image, light and music will create a common space full of elegance, lightness and characteristic of the works of Urzel and Wasowski's humor.

“A song is good for everything” is an invitation to reunite with songs that we know and love, but this time we will hear them from another perspective: without museum distance, but with respect for their style, intelligence and timeless class.
