89 years ago, Jerzy Dobrzycki organized the first Krakow Crib Contest, which to this day remains one of the most important events related to the nativity scene. Thanks to this initiative, the tradition of creating nativity scenes is still alive. Every year, on the first Thursday of December, nativity workers present their works on the Main Market Square in Krakow. Then the nativity scenes go to a post-competition exhibition in the Krzysztofory Palace. During the tour we will look at these extraordinary works and look for traces of the ancient and modern history of Krakow.
Conducted by: Małgorzata Niechaj — curator of the exhibition (Muzeum Cracowa)
Muzeum Krakowa – Pałac Krzysztofory
