As part of the celebration of the Year of Andrzej Wajda, we invite you to a Sunday afternoon dedicated to one of the most important themes in the director's work — his longstanding fascination with painting, which found a special culmination in Wajda's last feature film, “Afterlife”.
The meeting will begin at 16:00 with a curatorial tour of the temporary exhibition “PO VIDOKI”, which will be led by Karol Szafraniec, curator of the exhibition.
“PO WIDOKI” introduces Andrzej Wajda's relationship with the art of painting and takes viewers through art works, archives and audiovisual materials until the director's film encounter with Władysław Strzeminski. The exhibition was created in the year of the centenary of the birth of Andrzej Wajda and ten years after the premiere of “Afterlife”.
Immediately after the tour, at 17:15, we invite you to the NCKF Cinema for a screening of the film “Afterlife” (2016). Andrzej Wajda's last feature film tells about the final period of Władysław Strzeminski's life, and at the same time is an artistic summary of the director's long dialogue with painting.
This is an opportunity to first get to know the contexts of the film's creation, the sources of inspiration and the place of painting in Wajda's work, and then to see “Afterlife” from a new perspective.
