“Afterlife” is Andrzej Wajda's last feature film, a kind of artistic, bitter testament and summary of the director's almost lifelong adventure with painting. For many, the film was a mystery — why this period and such a hero? Where did the idea to return to Łódź and recall the tragic fate of Władysław Strzeminski come from?
The exhibition “PO VIDOKI”, part of the centenary of Andrzej Wajda's birthday and organized on the tenth anniversary of the film's release, invites you to look again not only at the work itself, but also at the rich contexts behind it. It is not only a story about the meanders of the making of the film itself, but also a multi-threaded, multimedia exploration of Andrzej Wajda's deep connections with the art of painting, through works of art, archives and audiovisual materials, dating back to the time of Wajda's youth and the dramatic end of Strzeminski.
Opening on October 10, 2026 at 5 p.m.
