We invite you to the next meeting of the Afternoon Tea with the Star series. This time the guest of editor Leszek Bonar will be Bartłomiej Topa — Polish film and theatre actor, film producer, graduate of the Leon Schiller State Film, Television and Theatre School in Lodz.
He connected the beginning of his acting career with the theater. While still a student, he played in the play “The Bachelor Club” and played the role of King Edward IV, in the play “Richard III”, which won him a prize at the 9th National Performance of Diploma Theatre Schools in Łódź. He played one of the main roles in the play “Krystyna” by Piotr Mikucki, and for his role in Wojciech Smarzowski's “Curacy” he received a Grand Prix at the Festival of the Polish Radio Theater and the Polish Television Theater “Dwa Teatry” in Sopot.
In the feature film, he made his debut in college, at the age of 23, in 1990 in the film “The Plant”. He also starred in the Golden Lions nominated French-Polish co-production “November”, “Farewell to Maria”, “Taranthriller”, “Crows”, “Peace of Anna”, and in the drama “Provocator”. In 1998, he starred in Władysław Pasikowski's war drama “Demons of War by Goa”. He appeared with Piotr Wereśniak in “The Station” (nomination for the Eagle and Golden Lion awards) and the comedy “Let's make a grandson” and with Wojciech Smarzowski in the films “Wedding”, “Bad House”, “Drogówka” (nomination for Eagle and Golden Puppy), “Under the Mighty Angel” (film awarded with Silver Lions)) and in the controversial “Clare”.
He also played in the award-winning Eagle, Golden Lions and Golden Ducks Kasia Adamik's painting “Homeless Playground”. He was nominated for the Golden Duck for his roles in “A Simple Love Story” by Arkadiusz Jakubik and “Simple Desires” by Marek Stacharsky. The role of Bogdan Mela, Jaśek's father, in Marcin Głowacki's film “My Pole” won him the Los Angeles Movie Award. For his role as Captain Kalicki in Krzysztof Łukaszewicz's war drama “Karbal”, he received a nomination for the Golden Puppy and an award for the best male role at the Netia Off Camera Polish Feature Film Competition. He won the Golden Puppy Award for his role in Mariusz Gawrysian's crime novel “Servants of God”. In recent years he has appeared in the films “Orléta. Grodno '39”, “Red Poppies”, “There Will Be No Other End” or “Dead Before Dawn”.
Bartłomiej Topa's work in serial roles is also rich. In 1999-2006 he played the role of Zenka Pereszczako in the TV series “Złotopolscy”. In “The Third Officer” he played the character of George Sent. For two years he played the character of Janek in the TV series “Spikes on Giewont”. He also appeared in the serials “Warlock”, “Second Chance”, “Ultraviolet”, “Under the Surface”, “Planet of Singles. Eight Stories”, “The Return”, “The Przesmyk”, and most recently in the Netflix produced “1670” — as Jan Paweł Adamczewski.
In addition to his artistic achievements, he is also involved in film production — he is a co-founder of a production company that produces feature paintings and commercials.
