Ewelina Marciniak's play tells the story of a heroine whom Krzysztof Kieślowski failed to show — the mature Weronika. Returning to her most important life choices, she confronts her own dreams, roles and ideas about womanhood, trying to answer the question of who she could become if her story unfolded further.
The starting point of the play is the Double Life of Weronika Krzysztof Kieślowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz combined with the Vilhelm Tove Ditlevsen Room. Cinematic duality acquires new meanings here - different stages of the heroine's life, unchosen paths and alternative versions of the same biography come together. Veronica's personal story takes place against the backdrop of Poland during the time of transformation. The awakened hopes, the fascination with the West and new models of femininity open up new possibilities for her, but they also become a source of disappointments and entanglements.
It is a story of memory, identity and freedom. About a woman who tries to find herself in the midst of life's choices and answer the question of whether it is possible to become yourself without ceasing to be someone for others.
