WATERMELON FLAVOR. Olsztyn cycle of Palestinian events — full programme (link)
The idea behind the creation of the cycle of Palestinian events “Taste of Watermelon” is already contained in the title itself, perhaps somewhat enigmatic. Watermelon is a symbol of Palestine and its resistance — when cut, the colors of the fruit coincide with those of the Palestinian flag, which was banned by the Israeli authorities back in 1967. “Taste” would mean all sorts of things — character, expression, specificity, essence, color — but they all boil down to the same thing — the desire for a better understanding of Palestinian culture; its autonomous, independent dimension.
