About the event

As part of the Fort Sztuki 3026 festival, we invite you to master shows with the participation of John Court and Sandra Johnson — internationally recognized artists belonging to significant figures of contemporary performance art.

The shows are part of the program of Fort Sztuki 3026, which refers to the tradition of the festival as a space for artistic experimentation, meetings of artists and presentation of ephemeral art.

Sandra Johnston (born in 1968) has been creating performance since 1992, her artistic activities are based on observing different situations and presenting them from different points of view. It emphasizes the interaction of such elements as: space, light, accidents, and in particular the relationship between them. Of all these things, it is very common for the artist to have a nervous reaction in the form of discovering long-lost memories. In its own way, the artist's work is a synthetic combination of the broadly understood interior/psyche and the often hidden poetry of the world around us. Each of her works is an experiment in the possibility of creating a space for contemplation and the search for clarity in the present moment.

John Court (born 1969, Bromley, UK) is a performance and visual artist based in Tornio, Finland. In his practice, he focuses on duration, repeatability and the body as sculptural matter. Through hours of performances, drawings and repetition of simple actions, understanding is born through physical experience, not explanations. John Court studied sculpture at the Camberwell School of Art and the Norwich School of Art and Design (BA with Honours, 1997). Although the trajectory of his work runs from objects to actions, the artist has not lost the sensitivity of the sculptor. Dyslexia and attitude to language play an important role in his work, which makes Court see art as a process of learning by doing. In her performances, drawings, and installations, she explores how movement, endurance, and time shape perception and meaning.
