For more than two decades, Pokey LaFarge has been one of the most independent voices in American roots music. The artist, who grew up in Illinois, has earned himself a firm place on the international Americana scene with his unmistakable style. His music combines folk, country, blues, rock'n'roll and other influences from American music history to create a timeless sound that consistently eludes any stylistic pigeonhole.

With his latest album Rent Money, LaFarge once again underlines his reputation as an exceptional songwriter and storyteller. The work combines personal experiences with social observations and captures the contradictions of a turbulent present. Twaning guitars, driving rhythms and catchy melodies meet lyrics full of humanity, humor and thoughtfulness. Many see Rent Money as the highlight of his career so far.

In doing so, Pokey LaFarge remains true to his artistic stance. Instead of following trends or meeting expectations, he consistently focuses on individuality, authenticity and creative freedom. “People will always tell you what you should play, sing about, or sound like. But I've always just done my own thing,” he explains. In a time of increasing standardization, his aim is to create music that remains unmistakably human: “I'm trying to make music that no AI can imitate. I'm not going to adapt. ”

With his mix of musical tradition, timeless song art and unmistakable personality, Pokey LaFarge has earned a loyal international fan base. The events in Germany on the “Rent Money Tour 2027” offer the opportunity to experience an artist who has consistently gone his own way for years and is constantly revealing new facets of his work.
