Poland of the late 1960s Thirty-year-old Włodek, a would-be Russian, husband and father, feels tired of the boring office work and family life unfolding in the M-4 of his mother-in-law to the rhythm of television programs, kitchen noises and veteran stories of his grandfather. A chance acquaintance with an attractive student of Polish studies Irena opens up a chance for change for him: an ambitious girl plans a great career for him, for a start as a translator of fine literature. Like Pygmalion, Irena tries to shape her male Galatea according to her own aspirations, but soon it turns out that attempts to “set” a lover through influential people prove fruitless. Frightened, Włodek begins to dream of returning home and his previous, boring life...

Adaptation of a short story by Janusz Głowacki. A satirical look at the “creative environments”, the grotesquely captured war of the sexes and the great creation of Małgorzata Braunek as a contemporary praying mantis in the most famous — next to those of Zbyszek Cybulski — film glasses.
