Pomme, a 30-year-old French artist and singer, takes the creative reins for the first time on her fifth album, “la forteresse”, combining pure, intimate folk with rich orchestral arrangements. Inspired by her work on the film “Peau d'homme” (for which the song was arranged by Bryce Dessner of The National), as well as the paintings of Hieronim Bosch and the cinema of Hayao Miyazaki, she created a multi-layered material divided into four chapters, told from the perspective of a mythical character breaking through her own limitations. Recorded live at the prestigious Studios de la Fabrique, the album uncompromisingly touches on personal and social themes: from maturity and loneliness, to the climate crisis, to difficult experiences in the music industry.
