ul. Karola Szymanowskiego 1, Gorzów Wielkopolski

Solo violin and Bach's music — this is how the story of the importance of this instrument in the history of music could begin. Extremely noble, and at the same time giving great opportunities to show real virtuosity and even musical tricks. In Bach, however, we find above all evidence that multi-voice music can be played on a solo violin. In Beethoven's Sonata, what is central to chamber music comes to the fore: musical partnership. In the dialogue with the piano you can hear not only harmony, but also a twist-filled exchange of sentences. Together with Henryk Wieniawski, we enter the world of 19th century virtuosos who proved that the violin can be an excellent tool to hypnotize the audience with almost circus performances. In the history of Polish music we have many examples of great violin music. One of them is the compositions of Karol Szymanowski, who writes with equal mastery for piano and violin. Friendship and cooperation with you played a huge role here

About the event

Friendship and cooperation with the outstanding violinist Paweł Kochański played a huge role here, with whom the artist consulted on technical issues. However, in the Myths of Technique and Virtuosity series, the sensual atmosphere and colours that Szymanowski was able to extract from the instrument are much more important. Violins are also wandering musicians, traditional melodies and the madness of real fun — these threads lie dormant in Mieczysław Weinberg's gripping Rhapsody on Moldovan themes.
