What if the illustrations “came out” of the books? Yes, it is possible!
During the workshops in our art studios, we will learn the basic principles of creating illustrations in the technique of a folding book, in which, when opened, the elements of the composition rise, creating the effect of space.
The theme of the work will be a spatial landscape depicting a chosen place or a realistic or fairytale landscape — without characters or animals. Participants will independently design and make a folding illustration, using paper, cardboard and a variety of plastic materials. Then they will prepare a set of moving figures, not permanently tied to the illustration. Thanks to this, the finished work will become not only a work of art, but also a stage for their own stories and play paper theater, during which children will be able to create and act out invented stories.
During the workshop, participants will learn how to plan compositions, construct simple paper mechanisms and consciously combine the image with the narrative. Classes develop spatial imagination, creativity, manual dexterity, the ability to design and tell stories using images. Thanks to moving characters, they encourage children to play creatively, develop narrative skills and cooperate with peers. The workshops also teach patience, precision and encourage experimentation with paper as a means of artistic expression.
