JAZZ Season: Nene Heroine

MOK Olsztyn invites you to the concert of Nene Heroine! One of the most interesting formations of the contemporary Polish jazz scene will perform on Friday, November 27 at 19:00 in the trolleybus depot at ul. Knosały 3A.

Nene Heroine defies simple musical definitions. The Gdańsk quartet moves freely between jazz, psychedelic rock, dub and post-rock, combining analog sounds, improvisation and expressive melodies. However, the most important thing is “here and now” — musicians build their concerts on mutual communication, spontaneity and energy, so that each performance can lead them and the audience in a slightly different direction.

In Olsztyn, the band will present material from, among others, the fourth album entitled “4”. Released in 2025, the album is a symbolic return to the roots and a story about the four elements: water, fire, air and earth. The material was created collectively, in a house in the middle of the forest, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The musicians wanted to capture on the album what constitutes the strength of their concerts — the wildness, spontaneity and organic energy of playing together.

The concert world of Nene Heroine is complemented by a characteristic setting. Musicians perform in golden masks, which take away their individuality and turn the performance into a kind of musical ritual. Jazz improvisation meets psychedelia, trance pulse and sound that can move from focus to a powerful wall of sound.

Nene Heroine has two nominations for Fryderyk — in the categories Jazz Album of the Year 2025 and Jazz Artist of the Year 2025. Album “4” was also recognized by “Gazeta Wyborcza” as Album of the Year 2025.
