About the event

What gives us support and inspires us to move? How does attention become a dance? What changes when we dance together?

We invite you to the autumn series of Mornings in Motion, organized by the Burdąg Foundation, during which touch and feeling will become the beginning of the dance. In everyday life full of expectations and haste, we will make room for a meeting, the value of which does not need to be measured by the effect.

We will draw on Body-Mind Centering® — an approach to somatic education that combines anatomical knowledge with cognition of the body through movement, touch and attention. At each meeting we will take the time to touch our own body or by mutual consent, work in pairs. We will look at how we feel contact, weight and support. We will give ourselves time to notice subtle sensations and see what opportunities for movement emerge from them. We will develop these experiences in improvisation and choreographic practices — from small gestures to extensive, dynamic dance, from individual searches to joint composition. We will explore how the presence of others changes our movement and how to share space and initiative to dance together while maintaining our own rhythms and ways of moving.

Angelika Mizinska

she is engaged in dance art, choreography and somatics. In her creative and research practice, she combines improvisational choreography with experiential exploration of the body, exploring the relationships between the body, the community and the environment. She creates artistic and educational projects based on mindfulness, experiment and collaboration. Her current research is centered around ecosomatics. She studied dance in the UK, USA and Estonia. She is a certified Body-Mind Centering® somatic movement educator and continues her education on the Practitioner path.

MORNINGS ON THE MOVE

These are regular classes in movement awareness based, among others, on contemporary dance, improvisation and related methods of working with mindfulness and body perception. They are aimed at people over 16 years of age, regardless of experience. During classes, individual exercises, in pairs and in a group are alternated. The meetings serve to broaden movement experiences, increase self-awareness and gain knowledge about contemporary dance and new choreography. The workshop takes the form of an open lesson.
