Portrait of Chopin

We invite you to a concert dedicated to Fryderyk Chopin — an extraordinary creator of music inextricably linked with Poland and native culture. In his works, the composer included the truth about himself, but his letters also tell a lot about him. In them he reveals himself as a man of unprecedented sensitivity, an artist who is brilliant and at the same time very critical, honest and direct, and at the same time witty. It is also a portrait of a great patriot. It is from Chopin's correspondence that we can conclude that relationships with loved ones were one of the most valuable values in his life.

During this event, we will examine together the most important cards from the composer's biography, his musical fascinations and the circumstances of the creation of selected works. We will also try to penetrate into the essence of his legacy in order to discover the soul of a man dedicated to art living in the realities of the first half of the 19th century. Our guest will be Piotr Alexewicz — a Wrocław native, one of the most outstanding Polish pianists of the young generation, winner of the 5th prize and the prestigious Audience Award of the 19th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. Appreciated for his interpretations full of sensitivity and technical precision, the artist will perform selected works of the composer, showing the richness of his musical language, extraordinary expressiveness and emotional depth.

The concert will take on an unusual formula: the host of the meeting, in dialogue with Piotr Alexewicz, will talk about the life and work of the master from Żelazowa Wola, as well as reveal selected secrets of the interpretation of Chopin's compositions. By combining live music with accessible commentary, participants will be able to learn more about the works of the brilliant pianist and discover their timeless beauty.

The aim of the concert is to develop interest in classical music and broaden knowledge about the life and heritage of Fryderyk Chopin, whose music has become one of the most valuable symbols and most recognizable elements of Polish culture in the world.
